General info
Where and how did I learn to draw?
This is often the first question people ask me! The short answer is that I had been drawing since I was little. It was always something I enjoyed doing and invested a lot of time in. Over the years, this helped me gradually develop my skills. This made my choice to go to art school easy. Art school was limited to general art classes, so I practiced a lot in my free time.
When I was 16, I got my first tablet. Much of my free time digital was spent drawing and also teaching myself with almost everything I know about digital software and using a tablet.
Inspiration
I spend a lot of time on social media, and follow many artists online, mainly through Instagram, DeviantArt and Facebook. Seeing their work in my feed is a constant source of inspiration. What often inspire me are photos, shapes, things from everyday life, colors or color combinations. And in addition, I also get my inspiration from movies, cartoons and video games. Those usually give me ideas for a drawing and motivate the drawing process.
Artistic influence
Since childhood, I have always been involved with pen and paper. Like so many others, my main influences were Japanese drawing styles (anime and manga). Another big inspiration for me are the Disney movies I grew up with, especially The Little Mermaid and Alice in Wonderland.
After first joining DeviantArt, I became very inspired by the wide range of different art styles. And I still get inspired by artists whose work I follow online.
