About DsignM Illustrations

DsignM Illustrations is an illustration and graphic design studio founded in 2015 by Denise Matos. Since childhood, it quickly became apparent that being creative was in her blood. So she decided early on that she wanted to use her love for illustration and graphic design to conquer the world with her skills.

Denise started her studies at art academy AKV St. Joost in Breda in 2014, where she specialized in Illustration & Animation. During her studies, she and others won an award for designing a 360° Virtual Reality experience for Waterschap Brabantse Delta. She interned at Imagic Concepts, where she further developed her skills in merchandise, theming for theme parks, character design and logo design. In 2018, she graduated as an full fledged illustrator.

Today, Denise is head illustrator at DsignM, where she handles everything from character design to realistic portraits, and from graphic design to graphic design work. Her versatility allows her to create both digital as analog art.

Although her journey has not always been easy, Denise views her experiences as valuable learning moments. Her passion is helping people and making their faces light up with the designs she put out. Like a chameleon, she adapts to any assignment, no challenge is too big for her!

Vision

I bring stories to life with strong illustrations that don't need to be loud to have impact.
My work invites the viewer to pause, feel, and remain. For me, fantasy is not an escape, but a way to deepen human emotion and presence.

My work consists of soft, semi-realistic illustrations where fantasy and humanity come together. I work with organic shapes, subtle details, and a warm, muted color palette. The focus lies on harmony, calm, and readability rather than spectacle or visual noise.
